A lot of people don’t know the rules of giving a manicure or don’t know them correctly!
- There are a lot of misconceptions surrounding this topic as well as a few others in the nail
profession, so I’d like to be the first to share my opinion on this
I would like to professionally emphasize the importance of the CORRECT manicure.
It is forbidden to manicure before nail building or the application of gels to your nails!
- Why?
Because these ingredients, the chemicals we work with for manicures are easily absorbed, thus
causing skin irritation and allergic symptoms.
If the manicure is done incorrectly (done before nail building or applying gels), they get into the nail
bed which has a detrimental effect on both the nail plate and the nail bed.
- The posterior skin fold
The skin fold tightly adheres to the back of the nail plate, protecting the nail housing, approx. 5 mm
wide (0.2 inches).
It consists of two layers that adhere tightly to each other. The bottom layer is the cuticle that is mounted on the plate but is easily displaced – only one part of it is visible, the rest is running under the posterior skin fold. Breaking the closure of the skin fold can lead to an infection that can cause serious damage.
The nail plate needs a HEALTHY posterior skin fold, so that it can grow as a straight surface.
- After all, just think of the fact that immediately after building a manicure, gel polish or artificial nail,
we grab the money we pay with, grab the door handle, our phone and on and on.. These are all dirty
surfaces and by touching them we provide a straight path for bacteria to get into our body through
the damaged epidermis. - If the nail bed is not suitable, the nail plate will be damaged due to the introduced bacteria which
can cause the deformity and discoloration shown in the picture thus weakening the immune system. - We never cut the skin around the nail, we take car of it which ensures the maximum integrity of the
healthy nail bed and nail plate.
The trend that is so popular today, Russian manicures or machine manicures no longer seem so great. They over mystify the benefits of this technique, not to mention the price of it as it is considered an “extra” service.
- If you want to provide extra services to your clients, try:
- paraffin oil treatment
- hand massage
These help in the care of the skin, so you provide the perfect service to the guest.
Of course, it is up to each guest to decide whether to accept such a "source of danger" or to rely on a
knowledgeable professional…
